Women’s Opportunity Center

The YMCA of Burlington County’s Women's Opportunity Center (WOC) assists women who have lost financial support due to separation, divorce, death or disability of a spouse. Funded by a state grant, the WOC helps women get back on the track toward economic self-sufficiency.

  • Job search skills: assistance with resume writing and interview techniques
  • Job placement assistance
  • Life skills workshops

Life Skills Workshops
Women’s Opportunity Center workshops focus on interview skills, finding the power within themselves, and the legal implications of separation and divorce or bankruptcy. A deeper search for positive change can be found in a 10-workshop series that explores the family system, character flaws, healthy healing, personal fulfillment and balance.

Computers & Technology
Our computer courses offer ground-level training for people who are just getting started with a Windows-based system or with Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Access, Publisher or the Internet. Membership is not required.

Support for Deployed Military Families
The YMCA of Burlington County’s Women’s Opportunity Center is working with the Department of Community Affairs to manage a federal grant program that provides direct financial assistance to spouses of deployed military personnel in all branches of service to the state (active duty, Reserve and National Guard) throughout the state of NJ. Direct financial assistance and referrals for needs such as child care, home repairs, utilities, groceries, car insurance payments, etc.
