Family Swim Policy

Wristbands are required for Family Swim on the weekends.

How it works:

  1. 2014-06-18_AOF-2753_RGBAn adult must accompany all children under 10 years of age in the pool area at all times. If children (regardless of age) are non-swimmers and/or wearing flotation devices, an adult must be in the pool within arms distance.
  2. Red Band Test – all swimmers under the age of 18 must successfully complete a red band test if they would like to swim in the deep end.
    1. The test includes swimming the length of the pool without stopping, or touching the bottom / wall, and treading water for 60 seconds.
    2. If the child passes the test, their name will be recorded as passed. They will receive a red band that will need to be worn at all times while swimming. However, a lifeguard may retest a swimmer at any time for safety purposes.
    3. Please note that a lifeguard can only administer the test during slow times, if the pool is too busy the swimmer will have to wait to take the test
  3. Before entering the pool, all swimmers must take a shower.
  4. Children are permitted to use flotation devices such as bubbles, life jackets and noodles provided they are used in an appropriate manner and under parent supervision. Inflatables and water wings are not permitted in the pool.
  5. The use of kick boards, barbells, rafts and other inflatables are prohibited. Only noodles are permitted in family swim.
  6. Strollers are not permitted on the pool deck.
  7. No diving or running.
  8. Jumping is not allowed unless in a designated area in the deep end of the pool and at the lifeguards’ discretion.
  9. Capacity – during busy times, we will follow the following wrist band procedure:
    1. When you arrive, check in at the Welcome Center and let the Member Service Representative know you are here for family swim.
    2. You and your family will each be given a wristband to wear.
    3. The color of your wristband determines the time of your swim period.
    4. Once your swim period is over and we ask that you please leave the pool deck.
    5. Only 25 family swimmers will be allowed per swim period.
