YMCA Kicks Off Mt. Laurel Playground
Capital Campaign
Support the Magic of Play!
Think back to your childhood. Chances are some of your best memories took place on playgrounds with your friends. The desire to play comes naturally to all children, allowing for endless possibilities and fostering creativity. The social, verbal, motor and problem solving skills developed on the playground are carried onward into adulthood. In addition, playground play fights childhood obesity, which supports the Y’s Activate America initiative. Since 1991, thousands of both Y Child Care and General Membership children ages 2 through 12 have reaped the benefits of the Y’s fun and safe playground located at the Mt. Laurel Child Care Center. The playground was made possible by an all-volunteer community-build program, including the YMCA community, staff and the Roberts Leathers Company. After 18 years of tender loving wear and tear, the playground has reached its life expectancy. Additionally, it no longer meets State Licensing specifications and must be replaced by December 2009.
