The Y knows camp. We practically invented it! What makes our programs
special is that at the cornerstone of every activity are our Core Values
of Caring, Honesty, Respect & Responsibility.
Y Day Camps feature quality care, exciting activities, individual
attention, experienced staff and an emphasis on good sportsmanship,
teamwork and safety.
Safety and supervision are our top priority. Our low staff to child
ratio of 1:9 helps to ensure that staff are able to foster strong
relationships while maintaining structure and stability. All of our
camps are licensed through the NJ Department of Health which entails a
thorough review of our operations as well as yearly camp inspections.
Y camp enhances camper’s self-confidence, self-esteem and leadership
every day. Kids thrive under supervised freedom, creative activities,
learning through play and HAVING FUN!
Our Staff
A successful summer camp is built on the foundation of high quality
staff members to facilitate daily programming. Campers will have daily
access to professional adult role models with a genuine desire to
deliver character values, leadership and everyday camp fun!
All Senior Staff have experience working with children. Most hires are
college graduates with degrees in education, psychology or recreation
management or are undergraduates pursuing similar degrees. Our Junior
Counselors are high school age students who have shown exemplary
leadership qualities and will be mentored throughout the summer by
Senior Staff.
With a 90% staff retention rate, returning campers will have the ability
to continue to grow their relationships with our staff year after year.
New counselors come highly recommended and are chosen for their
maturity, skills, patience, enthusiasm and ability to act as positive
role models for our campers.
Candidates must meet strict Y qualifications including written
professional references, criminal background clearances, and attendance in
over 40 hours of Summer Camp Staff Training. The training includes topic areas such
as Program Planning, Positive Discipline, Risk Management, Emergency
Policies and Procedures, First Aid & CPR, and Child Development.
