Our History
The Y represents one of the few places in the community where people of different cultures, religions, ethnic origins and income levels come together on an equal footing for the good of all. Our programs, our membership and our community is open to people of all ages, incomes, religions, races, and abilities.
Here's a timeline of our Y's rich and growing history.

| 1860 |
The YMCA started as small programs scattered throughout Burlington and Camden Counties. |
| 1905 |
Our Y became officially incorporated in the State of New Jersey. |
| 1907 |
We joined the Monmouth and Gloucester YMCAs to organize Camp Meteconk, which later would be known as Camp Matollionequay in Medford, NJ. |
| 1911 |
Our Y formed the local Council of Boy Scouts |
| 1927 |
The men at our Y began the Moorestown Y's Men Service Club, which today is known as the Y Service Club. |
| 1928 |
Our Y began offering Indian Guides and Princesses to fathers and sons/daughters throughout Burlington County. |
| 1942 |
In July of this year, the YMCA of Burlington County received federal income tax exemption by becoming a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation. |
