Our Board of Governors are dedicated business and community leaders who lend their time and expertise to help make our YMCA a successful organization.
Bill Emerson is president of Emerson Group, a full service recruitment firm with offices in Moorestown and Philadelphia. Since 1971, Emerson Group has operated on a foundation of core values that have defined who they are and what they stand for. These values–honesty & integrity; fairness, respect and genuine care for others; personal touch–are paramount to every decision and action made.
Bill is an active member of the community. A member of the Board of Governors at YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties, he served as chair of the Y’s Human Resources Committee prior to being named as chairman of the Board. He has also served as president of the MASA/Mid-Atlantic Staffing Association, chairman of Tri-State Human Resources Career Management Committee, president of Moorestown Football Parents Club, president of The Tender, member of Urban Promise Development Committee, president of Garden State Rotary Club and president of Moorestown Youth Football. Additionally, Bill coached Moorestown youth sports for many years.
Bill received his bachelor’s degree from Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts. He resides in Moorestown with his wife and two children.
Robert B. Worley is the senior vice president and New Jersey market manager for Republic Bank. In this position since 2009, he is responsible for all aspects of the Bank’s growth in New Jersey.
Prior to joining Republic Bank, Rob was market president for TD Bank in Washington, DC, (formerly Commerce Bank), one of several positions he held with this institution over 17 years. Prior to this, he was senior vice president/lender for Bank of Mid-Jersey in Bordentown. Rob spent 10 years at Mid-Jersey, where he started as a line lender. He began his career in banking as a credit analyst and lender with Citizens United Bank in Vineland.
After obtaining his degree from Dartmouth College, Rob spent a year in Japan with Princeton-in-Asia, teaching English to mid-level executives from the largest companies in Japan, who were preparing for international assignments. He also holds a degree in banking from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking, University of Delaware.
Rob has maintained a strong commitment to the communities where he has lived and worked. A long-time YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties supporter, he currently serves as vice chair of the Board of Governors. He previously served as a member of the Y’s Annual Campaign Fundraising Committee. Additionally, he currently serves on the Board of Directors for United Way of Camden and Burlington Counties, Contact of Burlington County and the Lions Club of Medford Lakes.
Previously, Rob served on the Board of Directors of the United Way of the National Capital Area and chaired the annual fundraising campaign for the five northern counties of Virginia for two years. He also served on the Board of United Way of Burlington County, the Burlington County Chamber of Commerce, serving as Membership Committee chair and on the Executive Committee, and Businesses Committed to Burlington County, where he was president for two terms. He was actively involved in the fundraising committee for the Medford Lakes Education Foundation.
Rob and his wife Pat reside in Medford Lakes. They have two grown daughters, Samantha and Katie.
Kenneth H. Zekavat is president of Zekavat Investment Group, Inc (ZIG), a private equity practice that invests in the insurance and real estate industries. ZIG has sold portfolio companies with insurance premium totaling approximately $700 million. ZIG’s current portfolio companies have combined insurance premium of over $200 million. Previously, Ken served as manager of the Western Hemisphere for Chase Manhattan Bank’s Real Estate Resources, managing the bank’s international real estate portfolio in Canada, South America, the Caribbean and part of Western Europe.
Ken is a current board member of Align Financial Group, LLC, Catalytic Holdings, LLC, HMI, Inc and several other smaller companies. He has previously served on a number of boards as member/observer, including First Comp Insurance Company, Personable Group Insurance Agency, LLC, Insurance Specialty Group, LLC, and Cornerstone Bank.
Actively involved in the YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties, Ken serves as treasurer of the Y’s Board of Governors. He previously served as vice chair of the Board and as a member of the Emeritus Board. He is a member of the Moorestown Friends School Head’s Council and past trustee, serving more than 20 years. He also served as past associate overseer of the New York University (NYU) Leonard N. Stern School of Business.
Ken earned a master’s in business administration from NYU Stern School of Business and a bachelor’s degree from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. He lives in Moorestown with his wife Suzanne and their two daughters, Sasha and Anya.
Melanie Santos Grant is a founding principal of Escalatus LLC, a performance-enhancing advisory firm that serves privately owned middle-market enterprises striving to move to their business to the next level.
Prior to establishing Escalatus, Melanie held executive leadership roles for various private equity owned portfolio companies. In 2013, as an operating partner, Melanie led a global team to close an international, carve-out, acquisition to form Archroma, a $1.3 Billion chemical manufacturer with operations in 47 countries.
From 2006 to 2011, Melanie was the chief transformation officer and board overseer and observer for Burlington Coat Factory, moving the organization from a $1.3 billion family-owned business to a $4.3 billion scalable retail organization. Additionally, she has served as a divisional assistant general counsel for ARAMARK, an $11B international, outsourced service organization and as a securities, mergers and acquisitions and restructuring attorney in Philadelphia for Morgan Lewis, an international law firm. Melanie started her career with significant financial and capital markets training and experience as an analyst and associate in the Fixed Income Sales and Trading Division of Goldman Sachs in New York.
A volunteer with the YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties since 2013, Melanie serves as secretary of the Board of Governors. She previously served as member and vice chair of the Governance Committee. She is an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown and has chaired the Art Goes to School and Family Fun Night Committees at Baker Elementary School.
Melanie earned a juris doctorate from the University of Virginia School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers College. She resides in Moorestown with her husband Tom and their four children.
